BREAKING: One dead, two injured in Hyde Hollywood construction accident
Workers were left hanging after scaffolding collapsed from 40 feet up

UPDATED, 2:50 p.m., Oct. 24: One person is dead and two are injured following a scaffolding accident at the Hyde Resort & Residences Hollywood Beach construction site on Monday.
The accident marks the second in one week for general contractor John Moriarty & Associates, following an incident at Echo Brickell where one person was left dead and five people injured after scaffolding collapsed.
Around 1:30 p.m. Monday, construction workers were left hanging in Hollywood Beach after scaffolding collapsed from 40 feet up of the beachfront tower, as first reported by WSVN and WPLG.
Two victims were transported to Memorial Regional Hospital, with one left dead and the other in critical condition, Hollywood Fire Rescue said in a statement. Hollywood Police tweeted that one person has minor injuries.

Construction is nearly completed at the 40-story, hotel and condo tower at 4111 South Ocean Boulevard. Related Group, Fortune International Group and SBE are partners on the project.

Hollywood Fire inspectors and Hollywood Police are investigating the accident. OSHA is also on the scene.
The Related Group and John Moriarty’s project manager could not immediately be reached for comment.
