Surtain, who played 11 seasons in the NFL, including with the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs, sold the 11,975-square-foot mansion to a nuclear physicist, according to ONE Sotheby’s International Realty. It sold for $4.25 million.

The Surtains were looking to downsize, listing agent Ben Westby of ONE Sotheby’s told TRD.

The home, at 2704 Boot Lane, includes seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, one half-bath, a billiard room, theater room, wine room, office and elevator, according to the listing.

“The buyers really loved the waterfront and the architecture,” Westby, who is part of the firm’s sports and entertainment division, told TRD. The property features  396 feet of lakefront.

It also includes double circular staircases, a gourmet kitchen, fireplace, heated pool and Jacuzzi, and an outdoor summer kitchen. Patrick Surtain and his wife, Michelle, paid $3.3 million for the 1.3-acre estate in 2011, according to Broward County property records.

It was built in 2010. The sale, which has not yet been recorded in county records, was the second highest price per square foot in the Windmill Ranch Estates neighborhood in Weston. It closed on Sept. 2.
