12365 Cypress Island Way in Wellington
An international equestrian purchased a newly built mansion in Wellington, Palm Beach County records show.
The trust of Ellen Van Dyke Holtgers paid $11 million for the 1.2-acre property at 12365 Cypress Island Way, which was completed in 2013. Holtgers is a longtime benefactor of the United States Equestrian Team Foundation, according to the group’s website. She also owns a half-acre property at 3540 Ambassador Road in Wellington, which she purchased from Bruce Duchossois, a nationally recognized horseman for $1.8 million in 2012.
The seven-bedroom, 10-bathroom estate features a pool, patio, summer kitchen and outdoor fireplace. It spans 9,861 square feet, which means it sold for $1,115 per square foot.
The land last sold for $1.3 million in 2011, according to county property records.
Casa O LLC, led by Douglas Elliman Realtor and luxury builder Visse Wedell, sold the property. Wedell built the estate and is an avid equestrian, she said. She owns 15 horses, some of which have been shown at Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington. Wedell has also worked at Christie’s Auction House.
Martha Jolicoeur of Douglas Elliman represented the buyer.
