The Sunny Isles Beach skyline is looking a bit taller this week.
Fortune International Group just topped off its Jade Signature condo tower at 57 stories, making it the city’s second-tallest building — for now.
The developer recently announced that Jade, standing at 636 feet tall at 16901 Collins Avenue, had reached its top floor and is on track for an end-year 2017 opening.
General contractor Suffolk Construction had been progressing at about one floor per week since going vertical last year and can now focus on interior buildouts.
The tower, designed by Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron, houses 192 flow-through units priced between $3.9 million and $33 million. One of its most standout features is a three-story underground garage, which lets the lobby have the same flow-through design as the tower’s units. As of August, 90 percent of the project’s residences had been sold, according to the developer.
At 636 feet, Jade is Sunny Isles Beach’s second-tallest tower, behind only Gil Dezer’s Porsche Design Tower that measures 641 feet. That title won’t last long, however: Property Markets Group’s Muse tower is expected to top off at 649 feet by the end of this year, and several other projects are slated to push that height barrier going into next year. — Sean Stewart-Muniz
