It’s been a hot year in real estate for the Rawlings family.
Just five months after selling their sprawling Wellington equestrian estate to Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt for $20 million, George and Beverly Rawlings just picked up an oceanfront pad in Palm Beach for $13.9 million.
County records show the two now own Unit A in the Las Ventanas building at 102 Gulfstream Road. They won’t have many neighbors: Las Ventanas is home to only two condos.
The seller is a company managed by Zdislaw “Zack” Ciomek, who heads the West Palm Beach custom homebuilding firm Euro Homes. He picked up the Palm Beach four-bedroom, six-bathroom condo two years ago for $7.65 million from Amy Feldman, wife of convicted investment fraudster Robert Feldman.
According to the Palm Beach Daily News, which reported on the sale at the time, Feldman was ordered to sell the 4,904-square-foot condo to help satisfy a $278 million judgement against her husband, as well as a host of other assets.
Ciomek scored the condo for nearly $1,560 per square foot. With this latest deal, he raked in $2,834 per foot.
Its new owners co-head the Rawlings Group in Kentucky, which specializes in helping health insurers recoup costs through a legal doctrine called subrogation. George Rawlings also played in and owned the Crab Orchard polo team, which was retired two years ago.
