This has been a blockbuster year for celebrity real estate in South Florida. Luxury mansions and preconstruction condos in Miami Beach, Coconut Grove and Manalapan were among the hotspots for star athletes, artists and TV personalities.
Take a look at some of the homes celebs sold, bought and put on the market in 2015:
LeBron James and 3590 Crystal View Court in Coconut Grove
After months of speculation, a company controlled by Mayfair in the Grove owner Timo Kipp and his wife Nathalia Kipp purchased LeBron James’ Coconut Grove mansion for $13.4 million. When he put the 12,178-square-foot home on the market in October 2014, James originally wanted $17 million, which was $8 million more than what he paid in 2010. But the sale stagnated for more than a year, forcing the NBA superstar to lower the price for the mansion at 3590 Crystal View Court by $2 million.
Oklahoma City basketball player Kevin Durant sold his 3,800-square-foot condo at 900 Biscayne Bay in May. A Colombian investor paid $3.15 million for the penthouse and is leasing it for $18,000 a month, which is a record for downtown Miami. Listing agent Michael Light expects the property to hit the market again soon.

New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez bought a 3,200-square-foot penthouse at GranParaiso in Miami’s Edgewater district. The Related Group wouldn’t disclose the price but said similar units go for more than $4 million. A-Rod’s flow-through unit on the 53rd floor has 12-foot ceilings. His neighbors? Record producer David Guetta, San Antonio Spurs player Manu Ginóbili and tennis champ Arantxa Sánchez Vicario.
Dr. Oz and his Palm Beach home
Surgeon, author and TV personality Dr. Mehmet Oz bought an $18 million waterfront mansion in Palm Beach on 1.5 acres earlier this fall. Designed by noted architect Addison Mizner and built in 1919, the landmarked residence is at 473 North County Road.
Global tennis superstar Serena Williams scored a new home in Palm Beach Gardens for $2.5 million. Williams purchased the 1.25-acre property at 7703 Bold Lad Road in May. The residence was completed in late 2014.
NFL Hall-of-Famer Dan Marino purchased a unit at the Auberge Beach Residences & Spa Fort Lauderdale, a partnership between Related Group, Fortune International Group and the Fairwinds Group. The beachfront Fort Lauderdale project has prices starting in the $1000’s per square foot. Developers declined to disclose the price for Marino’s unit.
Calvin Klein’s home in Miami Beach
Fashion designer Calvin Klein is hoping to unload his North Bay Road mansion. In May, he listed the five-bedroom, seven-bathroom compound at 4452 North Bay Road for $16 million. Klein has said he wants to sell the property and move to Hollywood Hills.
Emilio and Gloria Estefan, and 1 Star Island Drive
Gloria and Emilio Estefan listed Nena’s Villa, a Star Island mansion, for $40 million in February. The 1.34-acre estate at 1 Star Island Drive last sold in November 1993 for $1.84 million. The property consists of a main house built in 1940 and a guesthouse built in 1995, property records show. Jill Eber and Jill Hertzberg of Coldwell Banker team “The Jills” have the listing. The Estefans actually live in another nearby mansion at 39 Star Island Drive. Eber said the listed property was being used for guests and wasn’t needed anymore.
